Track: James Bullock Placed 8th in High Jump

JACKSONVILLE:  Senior High Jumper James Bullock becomes the first Track & Field Athlete for Fivay to earn a medal at the State Meet.  At UNF's Hodges State of the Art Track & Field Stadium, Bullock faced arguably the toughest opponents of any Classification in the State in the High Jump.  All four Jumpers from Region 3 reached the medal round and three athletes from Pasco County were also represented on the Podium.

Bullock ended up in 8th place with a Jump of 6' 2".  This was not his personal best height, but he cleared both 6' 0" and 6' 2" without scratching which earned him 8th place in a tiebreaker with two other jumpers who had previously scratched at the lower heights.

Joining Bullock on the winners podium were longtime friends and former middle school teammates Tony Hays and Thomas Rodriguez from Ridgewood.  Hays jumped a personal best of 6' 8" to earn 3rd place and Rodriguez tied his own personal best height of 6' 6" to earn 5th place.

Winning the event was Darius World from Rockledge HS (Region 3) who cleared 6' 10".  Also placing from Region 3 was Favian Upshaw from Astronaut HS in 4th and Ezra Robinson from Sarasota Booker HS in 6th place.

Bullock finishes off his athletic career at Fivay High School as a Highly Recognized Wide Receiver for the District 5A-6 Runner Up Football Team and a State Medal winner in Track.  His leadership, work ethic, and athleticism serve as an example for Falcons in years to come.

The next step for Bullock will be at the University of Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY where he earned scholarships in Football and Track.
