Varsity Football – Citrus 28, Fivay 20

The Falcons lost a tough game on the road Friday night at Citrus High School.  The Hurricanes took an early 14-0 lead before Senior RB Kyrie Rodriguez scored on a 63 yard run on the first play of the second Quarter but the PAT attempt was wide right.  Citrus was able to score one more time before half time to take a 21-6 lead.

Fivay came out in the second half a different team.  The Falcon Defense held Citrus to no points after half with the only Hurricane score on a blocked punt attempt.  The Falcons were able to score twice in the second half.  Once on a 1 yard touchdown run by Sophomore RB/LB Zach Russell and another 1 yard touchdown run by Junior QB Tyler Degen.  The Falcons got the ball late in the 4th Quarter on a fumble recovery by Junior RB/LB Nico Colandrea and drove down to the Citrus 12 yard line behind a balanced running and passing attack.  But the threat was thwarted on an Interception in the Endzone by the Hurricane FS and Citrus was able to run out the remaining time on the clock.

The Falcons had a tough day, but hopefully it will refocus the team on the Playoff Task at Hand!

Leading Offensive Players:

  • RB Davion Sutton – 13 rushes for 88 yards
  • RB Kyrie Rodriguez – 6 rushes for 75 yards, 1 TD
  • WR/KR James Bullock – 3 catches for 46 yards, Kickoff Return for 52 yards.
