2011-2012 Halftime Show Ideas
Yesterday, we held a meeting to determine possible halftime show ideas for the 2011-2012 marching season. Students who participated, were tasked with creating a list of 5 possible show ideas. Their list of shows were….
- Rock
- Music of 1945
- Movie Music
- Chicago
- Jackson 5
Additionally, I added Westerns as a sixth show idea.
In the next few days, we will make a decision as to what our 2011-2012 halftime show will be. Students who choose to audition for Drum Major, will be expected to try-out using our show music (which will be provided). Dates for both Drum Major and Guard try-outs will be announced in the near future.

Band uniforms are here!
Over the past week or so, our band uniforms have begun arriving. At this point we have everything in, except for our shakos (hats) and garment bags. These uniforms will start being worn immediately, beginning with Festival of Winds (December 2-5, 2010), All-County Band (January 28-29, 2011), and FBA Concert Festival (March 3-5, 2010).
Here is what they look like (click the image for a larger view):
We hope to measure everyone and assign uniforms prior to the winter break. If you are an approved volunteer for Fivay High School, and are willing to help measure, please email us.
FBA Marching Festival Results
This past weekend, the Fivay High School Falcon Regiment Marching Band participated in the FBA District 5 Marching Festival. Our students gave a wonderful performance, in less than ideal weather, and walked away with a final rating of good. This is a great start for us as a new school, and gives the opportunity to be even more successful later this year in Concert Festival, Jazz Festival and Winterguard.

Guard Uniforms
Today, we ordered our Guard’s Uniform. We only ordered the tunics, due to a variety of reasons, and hope to add the extra uniform components before Winter Guard. Here is the basic look of the uniform. The pictured uniform is purple due to a lack of other images. Ours will be red, to go along with our schools colors. Read more
