Pep Rally
This Friday, August 26th, the school will be holding it’s first Pep Rally of the year! This Pep Rally will take place during the school day. The band has been asked to perform at the beginning and towards the end. We will be performing music from either our Halftime Show, stands music, fight song or alma mater. Be sure to have your music, and be prepared to perform.
The attire for this performance will be announced in class, no later than Thursday.

Band Camp
I want to thank everybody for coming and participating in our Band Camp this past week. On average, we had about 40-45 students each day….which is about two-thirds of our band! Not many bands can come out of their camps saying that they can play 40-50 stands tunes, their entire Halftime Show, the Fight Song, the Alma Mater, and the Star Spangled Banner. In addition, it’s remarkable that our Drumline can already play through 5 cadences, in addition to the stands tunes and show music! It’s essential that you practice between now and our first day of school. Our band can only be as good as you make it!
Fundraising Opportunity: Raymond James Stadium
In your folders you should have recieved a letter detailing the method to become a volunteer for the Raymond James Stadium concessions. ZHS still needs some workers for August 18th. If you are interested in working this event, please complete your online training, and email me the names of who will be working. Anyone who works must take the volunteer training. We have to submit the list of workers on Monday, August 15th, so please let us know as soon as possible. Remember, you will recieve $30.00 credited towards your band account, for every person who works on your behalf!
Band Parent Meeting
There will be a band parent meeting on Friday, August 12th at 5:00 p.m. Parents who attend this meeting will receive a folder which contains:
- Band Handbook
- Power of Attorney
- “H.O.T.” Day Trip Survey
- Honor Band Form
- Website Information
- Fundraising Information
- Volunteer Information
- Order Form
- General Donation Letter
- SmartMusic
Band Camp Reminder
This week kicks off our 2011-2012 Band Camp. We ask that you report to the Band Hall on Monday, August 8th at 8:00 a.m. Our camp takes place from August 8th through August 12th, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. We are asking that everyone contribute $50.00 to help with our camp costs, such as lunch, snacks, drinks, etc…
Although we will be indoors for the majority of our camp, we do ask that our students dress appropriately. Appropriate attire for band camp and marching band rehearsals include:
- Athletic Shorts
- T-shirt
- Socks and Closed-Toe Athletic-Style Shoes
- Hat (for outdoor use only)
- Sunscreen
If you haven’t downloaded our music, it is still available at our website (http://fhs.pasco.k12.fl.us/band) under the members only section. During the camp we hope to learn our halftime show, school songs (fight song, alma mater), and approximately 30-50 stands tunes! In addition to that, we are hoping to begin passing out, and working on the 2011-2012 Pasco All-County Band Audition Music.
Our band camp is a lot of work, but still gives you the opportunity to have some fun.
If you know of anybody who was in band at any point in their middle/high school careers, but didn’t sign up for it this year….please encourage them to give us a chance. It’s not too late for them to change their minds!
If you have any questions between now and Monday, feel free to email me at bschmidt@pasco.k12.fl.us. I look forward to seeing you all on Monday!
