Dr. Jeff Traster
The University of Tampa’s Dr. Jeff Traster will be coming to Fivay to work with our Symphonic Band on February 28, 2011! He will coming in during the school day during 2nd and 3rd period.
Dr. Traester is the University of Tampa’s Director of Bands. In addition to his conducting responsibilities, he teaches various courses in the UT School of Music. Throughout the State of Florida he is highly regarded as a clinician and guest conductor.
Mr. Viking
Seven Springs Middle School’s Mr. Viking will be coming to Fivay to work with our Symphonic Band on February 24, 2011, to help us prepare for the FBA Concert Festival!
Mr. Viking is the Director of Bands at Seven Springs Middle School, here in Pasco County. He is an active judge across the state of Florida and is highly regarded as a clinician.
Fundraiser: K.I.S.S. Candles
Today, the Fivay High School Band Program began it’s K.I.S.S. (Keep it Simply Soy) Candle fundraiser. Every candle being sold costs $12.00 and comes in 18 different scents. Every candle is made from soy, burns for 65 hours or more, and the profit goes directly into your student band accounts. For every candle sold, $5.00 will be placed in your student account, that can be used to purchase supplies (reeds, oil, grease, etc…), band shoes, band shirt, your Lakeside Jazz trip, band banquet, etc… The money can even be applied towards your costs for next school year. Remember, this fundraiser is only as successful as you make it!
This fundraiser will close on March 4, 2011. All money and order forms need to be returned on or by March 4, 2011.

Winterguard Video
The Fivay High School Winterguard performed “Glee” at the FBA District Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at J.W. Mitchell High School. This group has qualified and will be performing at the FBA State Solo and Ensemble Festival in Orlando, FL!

FBA Jazz Festival
The Fivay High School Jazz Ensemble participated in the FBA Jazz Festival at the Center for the Arts in Wesley Chapel, on February 10, 2011. Our students gave a wonderful performance, and earned straight Excellent ratings. We couldn’t be more proud of our jazz students. Photos and recordings will be posted here, as soon as possible.
