S&E Times Are In!

We have been assigned our Solo and Ensemble times! They can be found in the band’s weekly newsletter for the week of February 7, 2011. Any time changes will be announced as soon as possible.

Remember, we will get you to Solo and Ensemble, but it’s your job to get home. Please, invite your family to come and watch you perform!

2011 Winterguard Music

Students involved in our 2011 Winterguard Show – Glee, are welcome to download the music below, to practice their routine. Be sure to count while practicing. Counting can only help you get better at our routine!

Don’t forget to attend our practices this week on Monday (2:30 – 4:00 p.m.), Tuesday (2:30 – 4:00 p.m.), and Saturday (8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Lunch is provided). We will announce the uniform for the performance on Monday, January 31, 2011. Please bring your uniform to our rehearsal on Saturday, February 5, 2011.

2011 All-County Jazz Information

The following information is intended for students who wish to audition for the 2011 Pasco All-County Jazz Band. Auditions will take place at Fivay High School during the week of February 21, 2011.

To be eligible to audition, we require that you must:

  • have a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • be an active member of the Fivay High School band program.

To be considered an active member of Fivay High School band program, you must:

  • have completed all current SmartMusic assignments
  • have completed all current Moodle assignments

2011 All-County Band

The Pasco County High School and Middle School All-County Bands will be performing this Saturday, January 29th, at the Pasco Center for the Arts at River Ridge. Students were selected to these ensembles through auditions that took in November. Students participating in these ensembles will spend all-day Friday working with guest clinicians from across the state to learn their music. Saturday’s concert begins at 2:00 p.m. and is free! Weekly Newsletter

Today, we emailed out the first batch of weekly newsletters. The email contained the newsletters for the weeks of January 17th and 24th. If for some reason you did not receive this email, please let us know and we’ll be sure to add you to the email list. If you received it but could not open it, please let us know. In addition to the email, you can find the newsletters hanging beside my office. Just come in and grab one. You can also find all of our newsletters here on our website.

FMEA All-State Clinic/Conference

This weekend Alexis Carro will be participating in the FMEA All-State Clinic/Conference. She will be rehearsing Thursday and Friday with some of the best high school musicians from across the state of Florida. The final concert will be taking place at the Tampa Bay Convention Center Ballroom A/B at 8:30 a.m. Tickets are available at the Tampa Bay Convention Center, starting January 12, 2011.

Spring 2011 Changes

As we get into the final half of the school year, I want to congratulate our students on a great first semester. They have begun to lay the foundations for a great band and music program, and have a lot to be proud of. That being said, it’s impossible to have a great band without great parents. I want to thank our parents for their help, support, and understanding through our first year. You’ve been invaluable to our work.
